Computer Says No

30th March 2009

I feel like I'm having more than my fair share of technology problems at the moment. My biggest problem at the moment is that my audio interface (basically a fancy soundcard) doesn't get on very well with my computer. I've tried all sorts of mediation techniques but they just don't like each other :( I think there's also something wrong with it just too so it's basically been a bad purchase. It's on its way back to the shop who will hopefully let me upgrade to another model. In the meantime, there isn't much I can do to record or mix so the garden has been the winner out of this.

First Gig In A While

22nd March 2009

On Friday night I played my first gig since 2007 at The Liquid Ship. It's been a long time since I played a gig by myself and it was a bit weird not having the band or at least keyboard accompaniment but it went fairly well. I was feeling a bit nervous before hand but thankfully there were plenty of friends there to see me through it!

I played one new song called Sand as well as another called Tie Me Down which was a rare performance. Both were fine and it was probably the other songs which were rustier. It was a good chance for me to gauge how some of the newer songs might work without the band and some certainly worked better than others.

I'm planning to play The Liquid Ship again in May and I'll post details as soon as I have them. In the meantime, I'll be writing and recording as well as developing my live performances to perhaps expand the sound of the songs.

Thanks to everybody that came along and to Dochan and Pat from the Free Candy Sessions for having me. I think a good night was had by all.

About the Diary

16th March 2009

I'll be updating the diary more regularly than the news pages because I'll be primarily using it to let you know in more detail about new songs that I'm writing and recording. It's about 4 weeks until my gig at The Liquid Ship and I'm planning to write and record some new material before then so I'll keep you up to date.
