Two weeks till you leave
I find it hard to believe
The time has passed so fast
Sky overcast
Taking time is kind
When hearts are hard to find
And all the words you say get in the way
Disappearing from view (x3)
You, you
Waiting till the end
My broken wings will mend
And soaring high you’ll find you’ve opened my eyes
Disappearing from view (x3)
You, you
Disappearing from view (x3)
You, you
Am I waiting for one word; one touch; one dream
That let’s me know you want as much as me
The kind of games that I play in mind so sad
It’s killing me, it’s killing the you I had, I had
No wasted words of love
Our time here’s not enough
But one day I’m sure you’ll learn
That these words are yours
The song was inspired by a girl leaving for Australia. The first time I played this live was in Nicensleazy at an open mic night and it's featured in most sets since.
This is my favourite song that I’ve written although I always seem to stumble over the guitar part when I play it live. It’s amazing how difficult a simple repetitive pattern can be to play for a long time – it’s like I’m expecting to make a mistake, so I do.
I’ve recorded this as a solo project and for the Four Minute Mile EP. I doubt I’ll record it again from scratch but I’ll probably remix it sometime soon.
