I’ve lost inside – I’ve lost my tongue
Faltering, I need to run
Simple words – I can’t find one
Surely the answer is going to come
I tripped on the way here – abandoning all fear
I thought I was so near
And as I knocked your door – I realised so much more
I’d chosen to ignore the warning – the lighthouse
Those warning signs were everywhere
Beauty hides what isn’t there
I realise now but was then unaware
I wave goodbye to this love affair
I tripped on the way here – abandoning all fear
I thought I was so near
And as I knocked your door – I realised so much more
I don’t want to ignore
The Lighthouse is one of the most recent songs that I’ve written and it was developed in practices with Four Minute Mile.
The lighthouse in the song is simply a metaphor for any kind of obvious warning. The song is about entering into a relationship that you know isn’t a good idea but you can’t help yourself even though there are clear warning signs.
Four Minute Mile recorded this for the second EP and I’m planning to record another version soon.
The song has been played at the following gigs:
The Liquid Ship - 14th August 2009
The Liquid Ship - 20th March 2009
Greenock Cricket Club - 9th September 2007
